January Snow

January 19th, 2011 by carolyn

Snow in New Hampshire is just what people dream of. Soft, white, fluffy snow… unless it is followed by ice. I long for an unexpected “ice day” where I have no commitments, no driving, nothing I have to do. Just cozying up to my latest Food and Wine magazine, my new New York Times Cookbook, my son so thoughtfully gave me for Christmas, and talking to brides planning Summer and early Fall weddings.

While warm soup is on my menu now, warmer weather is just a few short months away. We have had several requests for BBQ menus this year. From basic BBQ chicken to lemony salmon and chicken kabobs. We hope you consider Duck Soup Catering for all your 2011 events!

Fall Wedding??

June 18th, 2009 by nan

Fall is just around the corner. Fall asters, pumpkins, delicious local ciders, and great Vermont cheeses combine to create a memorable occasion. The Dartmouth Skiway is a lovely spot for a wedding with plenty of space for socializing and dancing.

Busy Summer

August 23rd, 2008 by carolyn

Nan and I have had quite the busy summer. We had a flood of catering jobs in August. We started with a repeat, week long job, for a fun group of family and friends that gather yearly in Canaan on the lake, and ended with a wedding in Andover, NH. This was held at the Blue Lake Farm. A beautiful site for a gathering. It has a commercial kitchen (key to us) and lodging for 47. Additionally it has cottages that can also be rented. Sprinkled throughout that week we had a luncheon and cake to make.

Nan, and her husband Ken have gone on a well deserved vacation to Walla Walla, Washington. Leaving me to drum up some fall and winter business. We have a few parties in the works, and long for more. Our goal is to be busy enough to provide the specialized service and quality food that we are known for, and not be totally insane! We would love to cook for your holiday parties, weekend getaways, family and friend gatherings, or that quiet dinner for two. Give me a call while Nan is away and I will give you 10% off on service!

Want to see us in action? We are often cooking for the talent that comes to perform at the Lebanon Opera House. On occasion they offer a Directors reception. These are usually held on stage after the show. Come enjoy a show and yummy Duck Soup Catering food for an after show treat!-Carolyn

Summer

August 4th, 2008 by carolyn

It is amazing how fast the summer is flying by. Nan and I are busy planning several parties and trying to get some publicity out. Our personal gardens are flourishing with all the rain we have had. Although, my tomatoes would dearly love some sun! Speaking of tomatoes, I have been experimenting with grilled pizza. I have so enjoyed going in the garden and incorporating fresh veggies and herbs with some yeasty pizza dough, varieties of cheeses, a little olive oil and a hot grill. My kids laugh about what the experiment of the day is. But isn’t that the best part of cooking? The experiment? Yes, the tried and true are good as well, and often a comfort. But throwing fresh peaches and some gorgonzola on top of a pizza dough, not quite knowing the outcome…Yummy! Give it a try! We might feature your experiment on a Duck Soup menu!
